Tips for Calling Your Rep/Senator

Be Polite and Concise

Congressional staffers handle many calls—staying polite and focused ensures they capture your message accurately.

Mention You’re a Constituent

This shows you have a direct stake in the lawmaker’s decisions.

Offer Contact Information

If comfortable, provide your email or phone number to receive follow-up details on the lawmaker’s stance.

Ask for Specific Actions

For example, “Will the [Representative/Senator] make a public statement against these annexation efforts?” or “Will the [Representative/Senator] support legislation to prohibit funding for any annexation?”

Thank Them

Always close with a “thank you,” even if you disagree with their current stance.

Call Script

  •  “Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [City, State, ZIP Code].”
  •  “I’m calling to express my strong opposition to any effort by the United States to annex or invade other countries, specifically neighbors like Canada, Mexico, or territories such as Greenland.”
  • “I believe that any move to forcibly annex another sovereign nation or territory goes against international law, harms our global reputation, and jeopardizes the safety and livelihoods of ordinary people—both here in the U.S. and abroad.”
  • (Optional) “As a worker/parent/student/veteran/concerned citizen, I’m worried that such actions could lead to unnecessary conflict, economic instability, and a breakdown in global cooperation. We have more pressing issues at home and abroad that demand peaceful and constructive engagement.”
  • “I urge the [Representative/Senator] to publicly oppose any measure or policy that endorses or facilitates the annexation of another country. Please support legislation or take any action necessary to prevent the misuse of military or financial resources toward such aggression.”
  • “Thank you for taking the time to note my concerns. I’d appreciate a response outlining the [Representative’s/Senator’s] position on this issue. Have a great day.”
